I’m a retired Marine helicopter pilot, Gulf War veteran and former Buddhist priest. I started creating art years after I retired from the Marines, and my first medium was photography. My subject matter was initially dealing with veteran reintegration issues. Later my work became more abstract and I left the 2d world for mixed media installations. I like to incorporate sound, video, dark lighting and found objects into interactive works. My goal is always to force the viewer to interact with the work; to serve as a metaphor for society’s complicity in war, in creating/maintaining the culture of war, and in society’s failures to confront the veterans upon returning from the wars. Ultimately my goal is to contribute in some way, to creating a culture of peace.
